Elf on the shelf fun

mason's gifts our elf brought him!

Mason listened in "awe" as Nick read the note that his elf wrote him

Addison was so excited she knew something was different that morning. She kept saying "see that?"

Mason decided our elf's name was Batman!!

So I know it has been months, heck almost a year since i have added anything to our blog. I always swear I am going to be better about updating this and then weeks, months, and almost a year pass, so i am once again vowing to be better and keep up on this blog!

Wednesday night I couldn't wait for the kids to all fall asleep so I could start preparing the house for their "elf on the shelf" arrival. I had been purchasing small little gifts to give them from their elf, things that i would of bought them anyways for the Christmas time of year. Mason really seems to understand how all this "santa stuff" works. He gets that he lives at the north pole and that he has a elf who watches over children and reports to him if you are naughty or nice but the one thing he can't quite wrap his head around is how the elves make presents. He told me the other day that he didn't want the elves to make his gifts he wanted them from the toy store. I am sure he is fearful that those little, hard working elves won't re-create the exact toys he has seen at toys r us!

Nick and I really enjoy coming up with new ideas each night for what our resident elf should do. It is actually a fun little tradition for the 2 of us and i am sure the first year that our children decide they are to old for the elf will probably be a tough one for us. Where is that magic wand to keep your kids the size they are now forever (well this wand would also end tantrums in a second and potty train your toddler in minutes too)? Thank goodness for my new addiction, PINTEREST, because there are many more people who are much more creative than me on there and there is tons of "elf on the shelf" ideas I can steal!
